Behind the lens
Before I embarked on photography, I spent years working as a professional dancer and model, later moving into production, choreographing shows and travelling the world on many varied jobs. It was only when I finally settled down to begin a family, I realised things needed to change and my decision to become a photographer was made. My journey still continues. Initially I wanted to photograph children, so I borrowed all my friends’ kids to practise on. They were delighted to oblige – getting free pictures of their kids in the process! I was forever pointing a camera in my boys’ faces too. Straight away I knew I’d found something I loved. Then I discovered newborn photography.
I adore shooting newborns and love the creativity it requires. No newborn shoot is the same. Every baby is unique and it really is an incredible privilege and rewarding experience to get to photograph them. Welcoming new parents to the studio and capturing those precious moments is something of which I will never tire of. Being a mother has given me an insight into how to get the most out of children and babies, paying close attention to the smallest of details. This can make the difference between a good photograph and one you will treasure forever. I’m a mum to two boys aged 12 & 13, I know only too well just how fast time flies. It feels like my boys were babies only yesterday.
In my spare time I love to play tennis and be part of a netball team but being behind the camera is where my heart is. I hope this shows in my work.
I am continually inspired by other brilliant photographers and, like most of them, I am very critical of my own work and always feel I have so much more to learn. Even now, I often book myself onto other renowned photographers’ workshops just to get new ideas and test my abilities.
My aim is to give you the very best experience and a selection of photos you will treasure that last you a lifetime.
